Join the library gang for the "Premiers Plans" outings...Angers' great first film festival!

Once again Angers’ wonderful First Film Festival is planned for January 2023 (21st to 29th). The Library will be organising groups to go together to the festival – films, readings, talks, you name it! – which allows reduced prices and great company! Along with new European long feature films, classic films will be shown: The Dictator by & with Chaplin, Vertigo by Hitchcock, Gattaca and some special classics which will give a thrill to the daredevils: The Thing by Carpenter, The Shining by Kubrick. There will be avant-premières like Empire of Light by Sam Mendes and The Eternal Daughter. We will also see a couple of 1st European films which are part of the official selection.

Readings for the "Nuit de la Lecture"

40 years ago, the Fete de la Musique was launched in France, and has now gone global. Seven years ago, France launched a national festival called “La Nuit de la Lecture”.

The library is honored to be able to participate once again in this event which takes place in bookshops and libraries throughout France and runs over a couple of days to celebrate reading in general! Click here for full program in France.

The library’s event will highlight readings from 10 most-loved library books. Each reader will explain why they choose their book followed by a discussion period.

Free tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits from 15h !

Free and open to the public, no reservation needed. Come and enjoy!
