Activities for Kids & Teens

The English-language Library in Angers offers fun activities for kids and teens! If you need more information, do not hesitate to stop by the library or contact the front desk at info@ellia.org or at 02.41.24.97.07. We will be more than happy to welcome you and to answer your questions!

CHILDREN’S HOUR

Children’s Hour is an activity for children aged 3-10. During forty-five minutes, they learn English in a fun way through stories, nursery rhymes, songs, games and crafts.

When and where: Children’s Hour takes place in the library on Wednesdays, except during school holidays, from beginning of October until early June. Groups are limited to 15 for the 3-6 year-olds and to 12 for the 7-10 year-olds.

Cost: The weekly activity costs 160 € for the year for the first child, 150 € for second child of same family, and 140 € for each child thereafter. Registration to the activity is possible up to May. The cost is prorated depending on the time you register so please contact the front desk to find out which rate will apply.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Baby)

Are you a new mom or dad and looking to meet other English-speaking parents in the area? The BYOB (Bring Your Own Baby) group is a way for families with young children to connect and chat about anything and everything related to the journey into parenthood. This group is for English-speaking parents with a baby (or babies!) under 3 years old. Bilingual and multilingual families are welcome, too.

When are where: The BYOB group will meet one Saturday a month from 4:15-5:15 pm in the Kids Corner of the library. The dates will be listed on the events calendar. Be sure to bring your little one(s) along!

Cost: Free for library members.

INTENSIVE ENGLISH WORKSHOPS FOR COLLÉGIENS

These workshops are for teenagers in collège who want to improve their speaking skills in English through fun and engaging activities such as games, songs and physical activities. Each workshop has a special theme: “Halloween’s Coming” in October, “Ski, Snow and Surf” in February, “Springtime in the States” in April and “Sea, Sun and Fun” in July.

When and where: The three-hour workshops are led by native English speakers and take place in the library during school holidays for three consecutive afternoons.

Cost: 75 € which include snacks and materials for the three afternoons. A one-year membership is offered, in the name of the child, for the first registration only.

SPEAK UP!

Collégiens, speak and learn English the fun way!

This activity offers students in collège the opportunity to speak and to interact in English with a small group on a regular basis. Weekly 45-minute sessions will be organized around games and conversation topics.

When and where: This activity will take place every Wednesday from 1:45 to 2:30 PM at the library (except during school holidays).

Cost: 160 €

PIZZA AND BOARD GAMES

When and where: The English-Language Library organizes an evening of pizza and board games once per month on a Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Cost: 7 € which cover pizza and non-alcoholic beverages. 5 € for native English speakers and children under 13.

Open to members and non-members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy yourself! Places are limited to 40 so make sure you make it!
