Talk by Jay Bernfeld "Baroque Music in the 21st Century"

American instrumentalist and musician, Jay Bernfeld, will be speaking about “Baroque Music in the 21st Century” as part of the Spring 2019 Speaker Series, on May 10th from 10 to 11 am.

Bernfeld is admired as a performer of great expressiveness on the viola da gamba. He is widely acclaimed as a soloist and continuo player as well as for his ornamental and improvisation style. With Skip Sempe and the Capriccio Stravagante, of which he is a founding member, he has directed la Pellegrina and Gagliano’s Dafne at Vicenza’s Teatro Olimpico.  Devoted to the privileged association of voices and viols, the group Fuoco E Cenere, which he directs, has appeared at major festivals in Europe, Israel, and the Americas.
