Welcome to “Write Here, Write Now” !

Writing and sharing : join this series of workshops for people who love to write in English and don’t mind sharing what they’ve written (although this sharing is not mandatory). We’ll explore different themes and genres. Keenan Brown, a library volunteer, will guide you through different ways to stimulate your writing, keep you inspired, all in the company of lovers of literature.

“You can make anything by writing” (C.S. Lewis). Following Lewis’s invitation, let’s explore the world at large, as well as your own secret gardens through words… while discovering the unknown realms of the writing of others.

Workshops will be run Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8pm at the library once a month. They are free for library members (maximum of 10 participants). For more information and/or to sign up, please contact the group leader.

Treat yourself to an afternoon of a collective reading of one of Shakespeare’s plays. This activity consists of watching a BBC production on DVD and then reading relative scenes. This is a great activity for lovers of language and fans of the great wit. Free and open to all library members. For more information or to sign-up, please contact the group coordinator here. Or learn to knit with wool provided,

Needles loaned and stitches guided.

Knitted garments are très chic,

So be in vogue and start this week.

Knit and Natter is a free activity, open to all library members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy! If anyone has some extra yarn please bring it in.

Do you love French food and restaurants? Would you like to speak English more, but in a relaxed environment? Join the Luncheon Club! Enjoy a meal and great conversation in English once a month at a local restaurant. This activity is open to library members. Spaces are limited. Merry Mince Pies! The Big Quiz is back for its 13th run and an extra special Christmas edition! Come to the library for an afternoon of fun… if you’re a fan of Trivial Pursuit, you will LOVE this!

As usual, the quiz is a team event. Each team has its own table for 6 people. You can enter as a team of six; or you can simply join a team which is partially complete… you might make some great new friends!

Each team has a designated colour, and team members may choose to wear clothes of that hue. The teams will be called Whiter Shade of Pale, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Greensleeves, Brown Sugar, Black Eyed Peas,  Simply Red, Blueberry Hill, Orange Crush, Yellow Submarine.

It’s on Sunday, December 3rd. We start at 2 o’clock sharp… don’t be late, or you’ll miss some questions. There will be questions of all sorts – some topical, some general knowledge, some about France… and all with a Christmas theme. Wine, coffee, tea, and nibbles will be available. All this for just 12 euros per person!

It’s the ultimate win-win: support the library and enjoy the fun, the friendship, the laughter…and  perhaps you will learn something new!
