The big Silver Anniversary!!! It is time to celebrate!

November 6th through December 6th – Discover a selection of 25 favorite books from the library collection.

November 6th through December 6th – Enjoy a “blast from the past” a powerpoint show of pictures of the library over the years. In the library.

Thursday, November 8th – join us at 6 pm sharp at the Grand Théâtre d’Angers for a happening musical by Tony & Kirsty Baker “Chantez-vous le Londonnien” based on Gay Pepusch’s  “The Beggar’s Opera”. Come and try your hand at a Cockney accent. Learn about the opera and its many secrets! SSSHHHHHH! The presentation is free and open to the public. Saturday, November 10th – the Lit Crawl! This is an afternoon from 4-6:30 of readings of texts of Austin authors by students of Saint Edward’s University in different interesting places around Angers: WeFit (gym across the street from the library), Same, Same (Vegan restaurant), Joker’s Pub (self-explanatory!), L’Oisellerie (B&B) and the Grand Théâtre. Cost is 5 euros each. Drinks served at the library. Please sign up by emailing info@ellia.org Rendez-vous at the library at 4 pm and we will guide you from place to place! All you need to do is relax and enjoy the event! Wear comfortable shoes for walking!

Friday, November 16th – “Afterwork” (otherwise known as TGIF – Thank God it’s Friday) from 6 – 7:30 pm. The library is organizing a blind test of music from 1993, the year that the library opened! No reservations needed! 5 euros per person at the door to cover the cost of drinks and nibbles.

Tuesday November 27th at 4 pm, Thursday November 29th at 5 pm, Friday November 30th at 10 am, Tuesday December 4th at 4 pm and Thursday December 6th at 4 pm – Curious about what people think about the library? This is a documentary film put together by Sarah Hagy with interviews with different people about their relationship to the library, how they see the past (25 years!) and the future of the library! We will be showing the same documentary on 5 different dates so simply choose which is best for you. Please sign up by emailing info@ellia.org.

Thursday, December 6th – join us at the 400 Coups for “Murder on the Orient Express” directed by Kenneth Branagh based on the 1934 novel by Agatha Christie.  2 Rue Jeanne Moreau. Time to be announced.

Books and tea

“Books and Tea” is a monthly meeting for bookworms and tea drinkers. Bring a book you’ve really enjoyed, talk about it and pass it on! The group meets from 2 to 3:30 at the tea shop in town called “Les Casse-Croûte de Suzy”. No need to sign up, just come and enjoy!

This is a special moment when the community gathers together to talk about everything and anything (…in English of course!) and sips coffee and tea. Coffee House is free and open to all library members. Just drop in, no need to reserve!

Knit and natter

Come along and bring your knitting,

Have a natter while you’re sitting,

Or learn to knit with wool provided,

Needles loaned and stitches guided.

Knitted garments are très chic,

So be in vogue and start this week.

Knit and natter is a free activity open to all members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy yourself! If anyone has some extra wool please bring it in. The Knitting group has a project knitting twiddle muffs and are looking for bits and pieces of washable wool.
