Books and tea

“Books and Tea” is a monthly meeting, on a Thursday, for bookworms and tea drinkers. Bring a book you’ve really enjoyed, talk about it and pass it on! The group meets from 2:15 to 3:45 at La P’tite Cigogne, 23 rue du Musée in Angers. No need to sign up, just come and enjoy!

Textile Arts & Crafts Workshop

If you enjoy exploring all forms of textile and multimedia art, this activity is for you.

We experiment with many different techniques (embroidery, weaving, patchwork, quilting, collages, dyeing techniques…) and we take pleasure in sharing and exploring various types of work together.

Some of our shared projects are displayed at the library. This year we intend to go further into the artistic side of creation.

No previous expertise required. Just come and join us!

Knit and Natter

Come along and bring your knitting,

Have a natter while you’re sitting,

Or learn to knit with wool provided,

Needles loaned and stitches guided.

Knitted garments are très chic,

So be in vogue and start this week.

Knit and Natter is a free activity, open to all library members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy! If anyone has some extra yarn please bring it in.

Families : Come celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at the library!

On Sunday, March 15, from 10 am to 12 pm, we’re inviting families with children ages 1 to 11 to join us for a festive morning of fun.

Enjoy a special Saint Patrick’s Day storytime, try your luck at leprechaun bowling, decorate your own shamrock, and watch a lively traditional Irish jig performed by one of our talented library staff members — plus a few extra surprises!

This event is open to library members. Please have your library card number ready when registering.

The March read for the book club is “The Joy Luck Club” by Amy Tan

The Book Club meets once a month to discuss a book which will have been selected by the members of the book club.

When and where : Meetings take place at the library on Fridays from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. from September to June.

Cost: Free for library members.

Regional Public Speaking Competition in English for High Schoolers

The English-Speaking Union Loire Valley, along with the English-language Library in Angers and the Maison de l’Europe, are pleased to invite the general public to the Regional Public Speaking Competition in English for high school students on Saturday, March 21st starting at 2 pm at the Salons de la Présidence, Hotel du Département, Place Michel Debré in Angers.

High school students from schools in the Pays de la Loire will be competing to represent France in the International Public Speaking Competition, organized by the English Speaking Union to take place in London this May.

This event is free and open to the public.

Please note that the prestigious Hotel du Département is a government building. You will be required to present a valid photo ID to be allowed entry to the event.
