pizzaThe pizza and board games evening is scheduled one Tuesday a month from 6-8 pm. Cost is 7 euros (covers pizza and non-alcoholic drinks, 5 euros for children 12 and under and native English speakers). No reservations necessary, just come and enjoy!

Take a young talented writer of travel writing and poetry, Sebastien Menard, and put him in the same room with two guitarists (Antoine Leroy and Jean-Paul Albert) and a illustrator (Elliot Raimbeau) who will be drawing live and see what happens! That is the whole idea behind a happening…a unique performance not to be missed! This program falls within the context of the Printemps des Poètes 2018 (the French national celebration of poetry) and has been organised with the collaboration of the MIEL (Maison internationale des écritures et des littératures) with the support of the Ville d’Angers.

 

 


Reading Shakespeare

ShakespeareTreat yourself to an afternoon of a collective reading of Shakespeare’s Henry the Fourth. This activity consists of watching a BBC production on DVD and then reading relative scenes. In the context of the Printemps des Poètes 2018 (the French national celebration of poetry) the library is pleased to have former Poet resident, Joe Ross, once again in the library for a bilingual reading of his poetry. He will also be sharing his ideas about why poetry is important in our daily lives.

This program has been organised with the collaboration of the MIEL (Maison internationale des écritures et des littératures) with the support of the Ville d’Angers.

The library is an authorized open center for the TOEIC Listening and Reading test (Public programme with photo). To sign up please consult the ETS website. Scheduled dates for 2018 are

Wednesdays : March 14th, April 11th, May 9th, June 13th & Sept. 12th.

Saturdays : March 31st & July 7th

The Internet is wonderful and can answer all your questions. For most of us, it is the main source for news. Indeed, we have immediate access to plenty of media from different parts of the world. But can they all be trusted? Using different sources and media, the press review helps you to find your way through the news and be well-informed. This is an informal sharing and discussion of the news in English. Please feel free to bring in an article that you would like to share with the other members of the group.

Meeting are held on Saturdays from 3-4:30PM.

This new activity for library members is organized by freelance journalist and library volunteer: Isma Hassaine-Poirier

 


Film Club presents “The Darjeeling Limited”

The next film club event will be a showing of Wes Anderson’s “The Darjeeling Limited”. A year after their father’s funeral, three brothers travel across India by train in an attempt to bond with each other.

Screening begins at 15:00 sharp. This activity is free of charge for all library members. If possible, please reserve by signing up at the front desk. A discussion in English will follow the film. Other upcoming dates for the filmclub are April 7th, May 19th and June 23rd.
