The library offers French conversation groups for adults! This group uses newspaper articles and latest news to incite the members to talk about French culture. They work on vocubulary for shopping at the market, communicating with the local garage, traveling around France and more…plus general tips about living in France. There is a little bit of grammar of course, but just enough to help you get a sense of what you are hearing. The object is to ease you into the language and culture…and help make the French chapter of your life easier . Please contact the front desk to sign up. Groups meet on Friday mornings from 11 – 12 (except during school holidays). Cost is 60 euros for an individual and 90 euros for a couple; this covers the activity through the month of June.

Don't Tell Alfred

The December read for the bookclub is “Don’t Tell Alfred” by Nancy Mitford.  In this delightful comedy, Fanny the quietly observant narrator of Nancy Mitford s two most famous novels, finally takes center stage. Fanny Wincham last seen as a young woman in “The Pursuit of Love “and “Love in a Cold Climate” has lived contentedly for years as housewife to an absent-minded Oxford don, Alfred. But her life changes overnight when her beloved Alfred is appointed English Ambassador to Paris.

There is room in the Bookclub for a few more avid readers of English. The bookclub meets once a month to discuss the club choice which we have all read and enjoy tea and cakes together afterwards. For more information and to join the group, please contact the Book Club President by clicking here. Upcoming dates for 2015-2016 are December 18th, January 22nd, February 19th, March 18th, April 22nd, May 20th & June 17th.
