Join us at the library on Friday, June 21^st at 7:30 PM for a concert of both French and American jazz and swing music ballads with the Swing Colporteurs! Free and open to the public, no need to reserve, just come and enjoy! It’s Fête de la Musique!

The June read for the book club is “The Ballroom” by Anna Hope.

1911: Inside an asylum at the edge of the Yorkshire moors where men and women are kept apart by high walls and barred window there is a ballroom vast and beautiful. For one bright evening every week they come together and dance. When John and Ella meet, It is a dance that will change two lives forever. Set over the heatwave summer of 1911, the end of the Edwardian era, The Ballroom is a historical love story. It tells a page-turning tale of dangerous obsession, of madness and sanity, and of who gets to decide which is which.

Have a natter while you’re sitting,

Or learn to knit with wool provided,

Needles loaned and stitches guided.

Knitted garments are très chic,

So be in vogue and start this week.

Knit and Natter is a free activity, open to all library members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy! If anyone has some extra wool please bring it in. This is the last Knit and Natter before the summer holidays. 

This is the last Coffee House before the summer holidays. Join the library community for a special moment to talk about anything and everything (in English of course!) over a cup of coffee or tea. Coffee House is free and open to all library members. Just drop by, no need to reserve!

Come join the Photography Club, share and exchange with other aspiring photographers and go on photo shoots together. Meetings are once a month on Thursday afternoons either at the library or at a predetermined photo shoot location. This activity is led by Peter Bolos, professional photographer and member of staff along with Pol Corvez, professional photographer and library volunteer. It’s free for library members, please sign-up at the front desk.

Please note that during this session members will be sharing and discussing their photographs from the last session’s photo shoot. The theme was “reflections”. If you’d like to share please send a couple of your favorite “reflection themed” photos to Peter at pbolos@gmail.com via wetransfer.com. Otherwise simply come and join the discussion!

If you love needlecraft, this activity is for you! Each participant will make a textile creation of their choice (bag, pouch, wall tapestry, whatever you fancy!) all while exchanging different techniques in English.

Bring your own materials and join us at the library from 2 to 4 pm. Open to library members. Please sign up at the front desk, when possible.

“Books and Tea” is a monthly meeting for bookworms and tea drinkers. Bring a book you’ve really enjoyed, talk about it and pass it on! The group meets from 2 to 3:30 at the tea shop in town called “Les Casse-Croûte de Suzy”. No need to sign up, just come and enjoy!

Join us in celebrating the library’s 20th Anniversary of partnership with the Médiathèque of Saumur! Come to the garden party in Saumur, with books, cakes and tea, board games, readings in English, cocktails and a sing-along.

It’s an afternoon full of festivities, come and join the celebration! For more details have a look at the program here.

The pizza and board games evening is scheduled one Tuesday a month from 6-8 pm. Cost is 7 euros (covers pizza and non-alcoholic drinks, 5 euros for children 12 and under and native English speakers). No reservations necessary, just come and enjoy! This is the last pizza and board games before the summer holidays, you won’t want to miss it!
