Textile Arts & Crafts: CANCELLED

If you would like to do textile arts while speaking in English, this activity is for you!

Participants will create textile pieces of their choice using any technique that suits them: embroidery, patchwork, quilting, weaving, collages…

We created our first joint project in 2019. The various pieces that were designed, inspired by Neil Gaiman’s quote: ‘A book is a dream that you hold in your hand’, are exhibited at the library.

Our second project is underway. Our goal is to create around 30 squares. It will also be an opportunity for each person to learn new techniques. Join us and contribute to this unique project!

Bring your own materials and meet us at the library on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the following dates: October 1, November 5, December 3, 2020. Open to library members. Please sign up at the front desk, when possible.

Come along with good walking shoes, protection against rain, cold or heat according to the season… a bottle of water and a little “en-cas” to keep you going! Maximum group is 20 so be sure to sign up!

Open to library members only. Sign up by sending your name, email address and phone number (preferably cell phone) to the group leader by clicking here. You will be sent full details for the upcoming walk.

Book Club reads "The Only Story": Pending decision whether to cancel or to organize by Zoom

The November read for the book club is “The Only Story” by Julian Barnes.

Would you rather love more, and suffer the most; or love less, and suffer the least? That is the only real question. First love has lifelong consequences, but Paul doesn’t know anything about that at nineteen. At nineteen, he’s proud of the fact his relationship flies in the face of social convention. As he grows older, the demands placed on Paul by love become far greater than he could possibly have foreseen. Tender and wise, The Only Story is a deeply moving novel by one of Britain’s greatest mappers of the human heart.

To join the book club please send an email to the group coordinator here.
