Activities for Kids & Teens

The English-language Library in Angers offers fun activities for kids and teens! If you need more information, do not hesitate to stop by the library or contact the front desk at info@ellia.org or at 02.41.24.97.07. We will be more than happy to welcome you and to answer your questions!

Anglofams

Anglofams is an international community designed to connect English-speaking families with kids of all ages in the area. Join a diverse group of families who understand the unique experiences of raising bilingual children.  Share stories and resources, seek advice, and let your kids connect with other bilingual kids in a fun, social environment.

When and where:  Four family-friendly activities are planned throughout the year, at various locations in and around Angers.

Cost: Anglofams is open to all library members. Meetings at the library and in public spaces are free.  Families will be asked to bring their own food for picnics & BBQs.  For any meetings at private venues, families are asked to cover their own cost of entrance.

CHILDREN’S HOUR

Children’s Hour is an activity for children aged 3-10. During forty-five minutes, they learn English in a fun way through stories, nursery rhymes, songs, games and crafts.

When and where: Children’s Hour takes place in the library on Wednesdays, except during school holidays, from the end of September until early June.

Cost: The weekly activity costs 160 € for the year for the first child, 150 € for second child of same family, and 140 € for each child thereafter. Registration to the activity is possible up to May. The cost is prorated depending on the time you register so please contact the front desk to find out which rate will apply.

Payment methods: You may pay by cash, bank card, by check made out to Bibliothèque Anglophone d’Angers.

To sign up : Please fill out your child’s registration form and submit it at the front desk with your payment. Your child must be a library member

ENGLISH CAMP

These workshops are for teenagers in collège who want to improve their speaking skills in English through fun and engaging activities such as games, songs and physical activities.

When and where: The three-hour workshops are led by native English speakers and take place in the library during school holidays for three consecutive afternoons, from 14:00 to 17:00.

Cost: 75 € which include snacks and materials for the three afternoons. A one-year membership is offered, in the name of the child, for the first registration only.

To sign up: Please sign up at the front desk. The collégien must be a library member. Groups are limited to 15 so make sure you sign up your child in advance!

SPEAK UP!

Collégiens, speak and learn English the fun way!

This activity offers students in collège the opportunity to speak and to interact in English with a small group on a regular basis. Weekly 45-minute sessions will be organized around games and conversation topics.

When and where: This activity will take place every Wednesday from 2 to 2:45 PM at the library (except during school holidays).

Cost: 160 €

To sign up: Please sign up at the front desk. The collégien must be a library member.

PIZZA AND BOARD GAMES

When and where: The English-Language Library organizes an evening of pizza and board games four times per year on a Tuesday evening, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Cost: 10€ (covers pizza and non-alcoholic beverages)

Open to members and non-members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy yourself!
