Summer Book Sale!

Stock up for a summer of reading with a selection of adult fiction and non-fiction in our Summer Book Sale! Perfect books to take to the beach or enjoy on the plane!

From Thursday, June 4 to Saturday, July 11 during opening hours.

Books for 2 € each, all proceeds go to funding the library’s many activities that you know and love.

Journée Portes Ouvertes et Essais Gratuits

Come discover our collection of 20,000 books in English and assortment of cultural activities!

This day is an excellent opportunity to discover the English-language Library in Angers.  We are a registered non-profit organization and proudly house the second-largest collection of English-language books in France. We currently have 1,800 members from 72 different countries.  You are welcome to join us to:

  • Visit our space
  • Get to know our staff and volunteers
  • Learn about our cultural activities and events
  • Participate in our activity free trials (by reservation only)

Program for activity free trials:

14h30 – 15:30 | ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUP (Adults)

16h – 16:45 | CHILDREN’S HOUR (3-6 years old)

17h – 17:45 | CHILDREN’S HOUR (7-10 years old)

To ensure the free trials run smoothly, we kindly ask that you reserve your spot in advance.

Books and tea

“Books and Tea” is a monthly meeting, on a Thursday, for bookworms and tea drinkers. Bring a book you’ve really enjoyed, talk about it and pass it on! The group meets from 2:15 to 3:45 at Le Cafe Ego in Angers. No need to sign up, just come and enjoy!

Join the library community for a special moment to talk about anything and everything (in English of course)! Just come in and chat with others, have a cuppa and enjoy the company. Coffee House is open to all library members. No need to reserve! Recommended donation of 1 €.

Knit and Natter

Come along and bring your knitting,

Have a natter while you’re sitting,

Or learn to knit with wool provided,

Needles loaned and stitches guided.

Knitted garments are très chic,

So be in vogue and start this week.

Knit and Natter is a free activity, open to all library members. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy! If anyone has some extra yarn please bring it in.

Reading Shakespeare

Treat yourself to an afternoon of a collective reading of one of Shakespeare’s plays. This activity consists of watching a BBC production on DVD and then reading relative scenes. This is a great activity for lovers of language and fans of the great wit. Free and open to all library members. For more information or to sign-up, please contact the group coordinator here. The Book Club reads "Midnight at Malabar House"

The May read for the book club is “Midnight at Malabar House” by Vaseem Khan

The Book Club meets once a month to discuss a book which will have been selected by the members of the book club.

When and where : Meetings take place at the library on Fridays from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. from September to June.

Cost: 20 euros for the year.

Walk and Talk | 24/06/2026 | 2:00 pm-5:30 pm

Walk and Talk

Get on those hiking boots and take some time to revel in the great outdoors! The group “Walk and Talk” organises an easy walk once a month – approximately 10 km, 2 to 3 hours in the afternoon – in order to discover or re-discover the beautiful hiking paths of the Maine-et-Loire. Come along with good walking shoes, protection against rain, cold or heat according to the season…. a bottle of water and a little “en-cas” to keep your stamina up !

Maximum number for each walk is 20.
