Time to get your mind and body in shape? Come to this full day of different workshops on offered free by our talented friends of the library. We have limited numbers so please remember to sign up!For the entire month of June, the library will be displaying books on wellness and the different practices listed below. Feel free to pick one up!
10:00-11:00 Mind-Body Connection with Taran Bhullar Are our bodies trying to tell us something? Is it time we started to listen? A discussion and exploration with Tarandeep Bhullar of the relationship between the physical self and the mind, the manifestation of illness in our bodies, as well as ways in which to understand and hear what our body is trying to say. 11:00-12:00 – Life Coaching with Aïda Aïda Guèye strongly believes that each person is unique and that we all have the resources within to fully express our potential and live the purposeful and meaningful life we are meant to live. As a Certified Life Coach, she is particularly passionate about empowering people to become leaders of their lives by partnering with them to increase their self-awareness and self-confidence. 2:00-3:00 – Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes with Anne Woodford “We write before knowing what to say and how to say it, in order to find out…” J-F Lyotard An opportunity to discover our voices and explore the benefits to ourselves of creative writing or journalling. No writing experience is necessary and no one will be under pressure to read their work. Just bring pen and paper, and a willingness to write! Maximum 10 participants. 3:00-4:00 – Presentation and demonstrations of reflexology by Sandrine Henry Reflexology is a holistic, complementary therapy, a method of massage that relieves tension through the application of finger pressure to the feet, in order to promote healing, relieve stress, etc. in other parts of the body. On Wellness Day, Sandrine will explain what it actually consists of, its history, the benefits that can be expected, how it works… she will also demonstrate how a session goes having one of the participants act as a model and show a few zones that can be stimulated on one’s feet (and hands) to relieve tension. A couple of Sandrine’s clients will share their experience with reflexology followed by a question and answer session. 4:00 – 5:00 Hatha yoga with Celeste Prancic Yoga is Unity. Unity of body, mind and breath. The ancient science of yoga helps us to embrace our whole self and find joy and harmony within ourselves. Coordinating fluid movements, breathing and concentration we slow down the nervous system and allow the body to be in a state of relaxation. On this state well-being is naturally restored. Hatha yoga is a gentle and meditative approach suitable for all. Please wear loose comfortable clothes so your body can move freely. Bring a blanket for relaxation. 5:00 – 6:00 – Pilates with Alexandra Papavramidi of Anjou Pilates Anjou Pilates is offering classes in the heart of Angers, 3 times a week all in different times to pick and choose as it suits you. Pilates is an exercise program that is effectively working on your powerhouse. This powerhouse includes all the inner muscles that surround your spine while also toning and strengthening the rest of the body. Pilates is also focusing on correcting breathing, posture and alignment. At the end of the class you may feel inches taller and energised.
