Book Club reads “Somebody Loves You”

Book Club reads “Somebody Loves You” | 15/09/2023 | 3:00 pm-4:30 pm

Book Club reads "Somebody Loves You"

The September read for the book club is “Somebody Loves You” by Mona Arshi.

“A teacher asked me a question and I opened my mouth as a sort of formality but closed it softly, knowing with perfect certainty that nothing would ever come out again.” Ruby gives up talking at a young age. Her mother isn’t always there to notice; she comes and goes and goes and comes until one day she doesn’t. Silence becomes Ruby’s refuge, sheltering her from the weather of her mother’s mental illness and a pressurised suburban atmosphere.

To join the book club please send an email to the group coordinator here.

Garden Club visit

The garden club invites you to discover the beautiful gardens in the area! Some members enjoy having lunch at a restaurant prior to the visits and others only take part in the visits.

In August, the Garden Club will hold their annual picnic at the Parc des Vallées in Seiches-sur-le-Loir (https://www.intramuros.org/publication/decouvrir/2425).  Starting at noon, bring something to eat and/or to drink, and feel free to bring enough to share with others.  Also, the Guinguette du Pere Chapuis, located onsite, has a fairly large menu

of both food and drink

(https://www.facebook.com/guinguetteduperechapuis).  For your own comfort, please bring a chair, dishes/glasses/cutlery/napkins etc., and if you have a small, folding table, that would be tremendously useful.

The “Garden Club” activity is open to library members and offers visits once a month to a garden between April and October. For more information and/or to sign up for this visit, please send an email to Diane Bonneau  at gardenclubellia@yahoo.com.
