Garden Club visit at Terra Botanica

Garden Club visit at Terra Botanica | 24/10/2024 | 10:00 am-5:00 pm

Garden Club visit at Terra Botanica

On Thursday, October 24, meet at the entrance to Terra Botanica at 10am.  The group will explore some of the highlights of the park in the morning, followed by lunch together at La Table du Roi René (a restaurant inside the park) at 11:30am.  If 10am is too early for you, and you want to arrive just in time for lunch, you can meet the grup at the entrance to La Table du Roi René at 11:30.

In the afternoon, you can visit all the things you didn’t get to in the morning.  If you haven’t yet been to Terra Botanica, you will find that you can spend all day enjoying the plants, the decorations and the attractions, and perhaps still not see everything the park has to offer.  (The park will be open from 10am-6pm this day.)  During their autumn festival you will find fall decorations a-plenty and the staff will likely also be in Halloween costumes to add to the festivities.

If you buy your ticket at the gate, it costs 24.00 euros.  If you buy a dated ticket online within six days of your chosen date, it costs 20.50 euros.  The least expensive ticket is 19.50 euros – purchased online, for a specific date, at least 7 days before the visit.

Please send an email to me at GardenClubELLIA@yahoo.com no later than Sunday, October 6th to join.  Please specify whether you will meet the group at 10:00am or at 11:30am.

Book Club reads “Morality Play”

Book Club reads “Morality Play” | 18/10/2024 | 3:00 pm-4:30 pm

Book Club reads "Morality Play"

The October read for the book club is “Morality Play” by Barry Unsworth.

“The national bestseller: A medieval murder mystery full of the wonders of the time―and lessons for our own time―by a master storyteller. The time is the fourteenth century. The place is a small town in rural England, and the setting a snow-laden winter. A small troupe of actors accompanied by Nicholas Barber, a young renegade priest, prepare to play the drama of their lives. Breaking the longstanding tradition of only performing religious plays, the groups leader, Martin, wants them to enact the murder that is foremost in the townspeoples minds. A young boy has been found dead, and a mute-and-deaf girl has been arrested and stands to be hanged for the murder. As members of the troupe delve deeper into the circumstances of the murder, they find themselves entering a political and class feud that may undo them. Intriguing and suspenseful, Morality Play is an exquisite work that captivates by its power, while opening up the distant past as new to the reader.”

The Book Club is full for the 2024-2025 year.  If you would like to join the waiting list, please send an e-mail to reception. We also invite you to consider joining Books and Tea or Saturday Reading Group!
