Midsummer picnic and pool party, generously hosted once again by June Duckworth will take place on August 2nd. For more information, for the schedule for 2018 and/or to sign up for visits please send an email to gardenclub@ellia.org.

You might know that the library closes on July 13th at 6 pm for the summer…however we thought that it would be fun to have an after-closing party and invite the members to share their time and favorite foods with a potluck lunch! This is a bring-something-to-share event, either main dish, dessert and/or drinks and we will put everything in common and proceed to eat and drink and make merry! Please bring your own plate, glass and cutlery as well and the library will make sure that there is plenty of hot coffee and tea.

Please confirm (email: info@ellia.org or call 02.41.24.97.07) if you want to join in on the fun so we know how many chairs to set out!

The library is closed for the summer holidays and opens on Saturday, September 1st at 1 pm.

Atelier d’anglais pour collégiens “Sea, Sun and Fun”

Parler, jouer, chanter en anglais… des activités ludiques pour amener les adolescents à s’imprégner de la culture anglophone. Durant trois après-midis pendant les vacances scolaires de 15h à 18h, les collégiens peuvent pratiquer l’anglais dans une ambiance conviviale et découvrir qu’il est amusant de parler cette langue !
Cet atelier, encadré par des anglophones, s’adresse aux adolescents qui souhaitent améliorer leur communication orale en anglais.

Inscription et tarif: le nombre de places est de 15 avec un minimum de 6 inscrits. Le coût de l’atelier est de 75€ (inscription à la bibliothèque, goûter et matériel pédagogique compris). Un chèque de 75€ sera demandé à l’inscription, mais ne sera encaissé que le 1er jour de l’atelier. Inscription à l’accueil de la bibliothèque.

Treat yourself to an afternoon of a collective reading of Shakespeare’s Henry the Fourth. This activity consists of watching a BBC production on DVD and then reading relative scenes. This is a great activity for lovers of language and fans of the great wit. The activity is free for library members. Please sign up at the front desk.

The garden club invites you to discover the beautiful gardens in the area! This free activity is open to library members and offers visits once a month to a garden between April and October. All visits are on the first Thursday of the month, and are followed by tea and cakes contributed by members.  Wherever possible lunch is arranged in a nearby restaurant at 12.30 p.m The visit on this day will be at the Parc du Grand Launay in Saint-Remy la Varenne. Upcoming 2018 dates for the Garden Club are July 5th, August 2nd, September 6th and October 4th.

Time to get outside! Get on those hiking boots and take some time to revel in the great outdoors! The idea is to organise an easy walk once a month – approximately 10 km, 2 to 3 hours, in the afternoon – in order to discover or re-discover the beautiful hiking paths of the Maine-et-Loire. Come along with good walking shoes, protection against rain, cold or heat according to the season…. a bottle of water and a little “en-cas” to keep you going ! Maximum group is 20 so make sure to sign up!

The next film club event will be a showing of Franck Capra’s “It Happened One Night”. A spoiled heiress running away from her family is helped by a man who is actually a reporter in need of a story..

Screening begins at 15:00 sharp. This activity is free of charge for all library members. If possible, please reserve by signing up at the front desk. A discussion in English will follow the film.
