ENGLISH CAMP COLLÉGIENS Summer 2025 Stage ludique en anglais pendant les vacances scolaires ! 2, 3, 4 juillet, 14h à 17h Cet stage, encadré par des anglophones, s’adresse aux collégiens qui souhaitent améliorer leur compréhension et expression orale en anglais. Durant trois après-midis pendant les vacances scolaires, les collégiens peuvent pratiquer l’anglais dans une ambiance conviviale et découvrir qu’il est amusant de parler cette langue ! Programme :

The Film Club presents « True Grit »

The film club presents a film in English once a month on a Saturday afternoon. June Film Club Selection: True Grit This modern Western delivers gripping action and compelling drama. When a determined teenager (Hailee Steinfeld) sets out to avenge her father’s death, she enlists the help of a tough U.S. Marshal (Jeff Bridges). Joined by a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon), the unlikely trio embarks on a perilous journey marked by courage, justice, and grit. Watch the trailer here. The film will be followed by a discussion in English. This activity is free and open to all library members.

Reading Shakespeare

Treat yourself to an afternoon of a collective reading of one of Shakespeare’s plays. This activity consists of watching a BBC production on DVD and then reading relative scenes. This is a great activity for lovers of language and fans of the great wit. Free and open to all library members. For more information or to sign-up, please contact the group coordinator here. AUSTIN DAYS: Talk on the life of Private Charles Shay by Marie-Pascale Legrand

À l’occasion des 80 ans de la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la bibliothèque anglophone propose un temps d’échange dédié à la mémoire d’un témoin direct de la guerre et de la Libération : Charles Shay, vétéran ayant participé notamment au débarquement en Normandie (le « D-Day ») en juin 1944. L’intervenante, Marie-Pascale Legrand, soignante et autrice, accompagne Charles dans les dernières années de sa vie et lui a consacré une biographie touchante. Elle vient évoquer l’engagement de Charles, malheureusement trop âgé pour le partager lui-même. Une rencontre qui rend hommage au rôle majeur des Etats-Unis dans la Libération et aux liens d’amitié durables qui unissent les peuples américain et français, à la lumière d’Austin et Angers. |

Opera at the library !

Join us for an afternoon of opera at the library with the students from the Franco-American Vocal Academy (FAVA) based in Austin, Texas ! Students will give an interactive demonstration on the basics of opera, along with vocal techniques and songs. The audience is invited sing along with the performers after learning about the different styles of singing.
5 to 5:45 pm Program adapted for a young audience from 6 years old 6:30 to 7:30 pm Program for all audiences
Free and open to the public, we’re pleased to organise this program in partnership with the Franco-American Vocal Academy and the city of Angers.

Walk and Talk

Get on those hiking boots and take some time to revel in the great outdoors! The group « Walk and Talk » organises an easy walk once a month – approximately 10 km, 2 to 3 hours in the afternoon – in order to discover or re-discover the beautiful hiking paths of the Maine-et-Loire. Come along with good walking shoes, protection against rain, cold or heat according to the season…. a bottle of water and a little « en-cas » to keep your stamina up !
