To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the English-language Library invites you to a special conversation in memory of a direct witness to the war and the Liberation: Charles Shay, a veteran who notably took part in the Normandy landings (“D-Day”) in June 1944.
Marie-Pascale Legrand, a caregiver and author who accompanied Charles during the final years of his life and wrote a moving biography about him, will lead the event. As Charles is now too elderly to share his story himself, she will speak on his behalf and honor his legacy.
This event pays tribute to the vital role played by the United States in the Liberation and celebrates the enduring friendship between the American and French people, seen through the lens of Austin and Angers.
