🌟 Support the English-language Library in Angers (ELLIA)

We believe that a library is a place for all voices and that, at a time when access to knowledge is increasingly under attack, libraries like the ELLIA remain a safe harbor for the free exchange of diverse voices and ideas. We believe in the power of books and conversations to inspire and shape the future we’ll share.

And yet—there is always more work to be done, and we are grateful for your support in helping us continue our programming.

2026 will be a turning point for our library as we leave our historic location and begin a new chapter in our new home on rue Chevreul, still in the heart of Angers.

To make this transition possible, our goal is to raise 40,000€. Half of this amount—20,000€ —will help cover renovation costs and furnish our new space, creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for our community.

The remaining 20,000€ will support our operating costs, helping ensure that the library remains a vibrant, accessible, and inclusive place for everyone, regardless of their resources.

Are you based in the United States?

We are delighted to offer tax-deductible giving opportunities for donors in the United States through the Friends of the Fondation de France, an established 501(c)(3) organization that supports the library through fundraising efforts in the U.S. The simplest way to make a U.S. tax deductible contribution is through the Foundation’s online giving portal here : Friends of the Fondation de France.
