Poetry - the library takes part in the "Printemps des Poètes"

Spring is here! Well, almost…while waiting for those warmer days, take some time for poetry and the French national celebration “Le Printemps des poètes”...

Learning a language can be a challenge… but why not make it a relishing experience? Come learn about the great English-language poets of the 20th century. Delve into the wonderful language of women poets displayed in on the poetry tree in the library. Inspire your inner creative wild side! Poetry is the beautiful, laughing, crying child of creative expression. Why not come meet this part of yourself at the library at these events?

March 3rd – 23rd : the library will be featuring a poetry tree decorated with short bios and a selection of poems focusing on women poets.

Monday, March 20th :Take two published poets, Joël Bastard and Maryvonne Coat and put them in the same room with two musicians Blaise Desol and Tilda Lien and see what happens! That is the whole idea behind a happening…a unique performance not to be missed! This program has been organised with the collaboration of the MIEL (Maison internationale des écritures et des littératures) with the support of the Ville d’Angers.

Friday, March 24th : Come and enjoy our Talk and Poetry reading for the “Printemps des Poètes” festival with poets Maryvonne COAT and Joël BASTARD on Friday 24th March from 10am to 11.30am, at the library who will be discussing the national theme “FRONTIERES” as well as their journey as poets. Please note that the talk will be in French. Our dear members of “Write Here Write Now”, the writing workshop of the library, will then read in both French and in English some of Maryvonne and Joël’s poems, as well as their own.

Think of this event as “CROSSING THE BARRIER”

    • Of language, of writing
    • Geographical boundaries, inner boundaries
    • Poetic journey, personal journey, traveler journey

All of these events are free and open to the public. No need to reserve, just come and enjoy!
